Distant Thunder Handspun

I've completed a new handspun yarn.  This is Distant Thunder.  It's Corriedale wool.  I spun it as a 2 ply and it is 12 WPI (sport weight) and 240 yards.  Soft and springy.

July Emboridery Sampler

Since I go overboard with everything I do, I had to do the same with getting back into embroidery.  Dropcloth Samplers has a monthly stitch sampler club and I joined.  July 2013's sampler is all about chain stitches.  I had no idea there were so many types of chain stitches.  It's been fun and I'm looking forward to August's offering.  It's finished now, but here's an almost finished WIP shot.  I plan to save all 12 of these, combine them with the Original Sampler and make one large wall hanging.

The sampler is finished and I'm loving it!  Oops, just noticed that I failed to put my name and date on it, I'll add that later.  I used the cotton backing as the front border and I like the way it looks.  Had a great time stitching this and I'll be doing more embroidery soon I'm sure.

I've been stitching along and enjoying re-discovering embroidery.  Here's a WIP shot:

And here's the back!  I'm using a piece of cotton fabric as a stabilizer and fun backside to the piece.
Also, YES!  I do knot my embroidery.  :)

New Blog!

Testing the Blogger platform for a new blog.  I gave up my paid domain so now I'm on the lookout for a new, free blog space.

The Crafty ADD has struck and I've started an embroidery sampler!  I haven't embroidered in years and years.  This lovely sampler is from Dropcloth Samplers.  I have a large assortment of DMC embroidery floss left over from my counted cross stitch days, so I'm picking out colors at random and re-acquainting myself with the different embroidery stitches.  FUN!
